5 Common Mistakes that are Preventing You from Being Happy

Every single choice that we make everyday shapes our happiness. And often certain choices, consciously or unconsciously, lead us away from happiness.

If you are wondering why you feel that emptiness in your heart despite your best efforts towards being happy, read on to know more. It is possible that you are making one or more of these common mistakes that are preventing you from being happy.

  1. Staying Aloof From People Who Care

Both Friendship power and the power of love are crucial for happiness. Human beings intrinsically find solace and comfort when they communicate with others. When you stay aloof from people who care, you cannot be happy. The stronger your social connections and family ties, the higher the chances of you being healthier and happier.  Open up your heart to love and friendship and you will find that happiness has created space for itself. A sense of belonging is paramount for all humans to be happy.

  1. Indulging in a Sedentary Lifestyle

Internet, work pressure and television are key contributors to a sedentary routine. Sitting for unusually extended periods increases body weight and the risk of cardiovascular ailments. You can never be truly happy if you are bothered by nagging health concerns.

Exercise adequately and religiously. Try out practices like Standing Meditation and Breathwork, which rejuvenate your body, mind and soul and put you firmly on the path towards happiness.

  1. Doing a Job That You Don’t Love

Ask yourself – is this really what you want to do? Or are you doing it because you have to? If your job stresses you out abnormally and does not leave you time for anything else, it’s probably time to consider a change.

  1. Holding on to Anger and Resentment

Make peace with the person or situation that angers you. Bearing a grudge will not harm the other person, but will ruin your happiness. Learn to let go and see your happiness soar.

  1. Waiting for a Perfect Life to be Happy

There is no such thing as the perfect life. If you wait to be happy, you will wait forever. The time to be happy is right now. Remember you are responsible for your happiness…no one else is.
